We looked at inspection reports from the body which certifies “highest standard” farms with a public-facing ‘green tick’ — and found there have been breaches of its rules at dozens of fish farms.
Threats facing our mountains, forests and national parks are increasing, but the level of monitoring of our “protected sites” has almost halved in five years, Scottish Environment LINK has found.
The Scottish Government has been supportive of controversial green data centres and is liaising with the industry. But critics argue there are environmental considerations and companies must not be allowed to “write the rules”.
A video showing a man playing bagpipes during a Muslim call to prayer was widely shared on social media this week, after being boosted by accounts critical of Islam.
The short clip was posted on X numerous times, with accountsstating it showed a call to prayer in Scotland.
“The Scottish have started playing bagpipes during the Muslim Call To Prayer to combat the Islamization of their country.”
Ferret Fact Service looked into this claim and found it False.
The account regularly posts content showing the creator playing the bagpipes in various locations around the world, and he describes himself as a ‘cultural enricher’ on his social channels.
His video playing the bagpipes during the Muslim call to prayer, known as the Adhan, was originally posted on 13 December 2025.
Multipleaccounts claimed the performance was an example of people playing bagpipes in Scotland to “combat the Islamization of their country”.
However, it was not taken in Scotland. It appears to have been taken in Tel-Aviv, Israel. The original creator, robinbagpipes, did not claim the video was from Scotland. It was captioned: "Bagpipes duting muslim call to prayer".
The video shows the bagpiper walking down stone steps in what looks like a grassy amphitheatre with stone seating. In the background is a notable white domed building, and the theatre overlooks a modern city and beach.
This appears to be the Tiroche amphitheater, which is in the ancient Old Jaffa area of Tel-Aviv. Images on and stock images show the same background, with the distinctive stone seating and domed building.
A post on an Instagram account also appears to show the bagpiper in Tel-Aviv at the end of November 2025, which would fit with the video posted in December.
Ferret Fact Service verdict: False
This video does not show a bagpiper in Scotland attempting to “combat the Islamization of their country”. In fact, the video is of a Scottish bagpiper and social media content creator playing the bagpipes in Tel-Aviv in Israel.
